Wedding Anniversary

15 years ago on the 13th of February 1997 I made a solemn promise to myself, my husband and God that I will be a good wife and a good mother to my future children.  Well, if truth be told I might have broken this promise a few times during the 15 years. I lost my patience, I lost my cool and sometimes I succumbed to my childish behaviour, sulking!! However, I have never stopped praying and trying to be a good wife and a good mother! The same goes to my husband, who tries his best to be the best husband and the best father to our children. Reflecting the 15 years that we spent together, I can safely say it's not always a walk in the park. However, I cherish every moment, good and bad. I hope that 15, 20 or 25 years to come will not change the love that we have for each other. I love you bang, warts and all!!

A day of celebration

A few weeks ago, my cousin got married.  It was really a day of celebration for our family as this is her first wedding and she is in her 40s. I am a firm believer that everybody deserves to be happy and it still warms my heart thinking of my dearest cousin who looked so radiant that day. Ahh.. to be in love! Young and old alike. Those who were struck by Cupid's arrow would noticeably be giggly, love struck and surely there'll be spring on their steps! I wish nothing but the best for you, Kak Za.

Nadia, Syera and As - contented faces

Hazim - filling his time playing games

                                      my comel nephew - Aqil

Kak Za - not ready with the make up yet!

Mak and Syera - all smiles!!

Something her brother said that made Syera laughed

Nadia - not really in this planet!! He..he..he..

                                                 little muffin, Nina

Before I end my scribblings, I just want to say that Nina really ate that day! She had three helpings of Nasi Hujan Panas and a bowl of Bubur Kacang Hijau. Half an hour after that, she told me she felt like throwing up! Funny girl!

Of food and weddings

I love weddings! I love the idea of 2 people in love finally joined in matrimony. As I radiate such positive energy about weddings, my children got infected with the bug too! However, their love for weddings has nothing to do with romance! They enjoy getting candies, goodie bags and eating scrumptious food. Recently, I went to a relative's wedding. We got there early. It was the usual things you would expect in a wedding ceremony. Beautifully made up bride, handsome bridegroom, contented parents and loud music. However, what was a bit unusual about this wedding was nobody greeted or welcomed us. Maybe the hosts were too exhausted to come and say hello. Anyway, that did not stop us from enjoying the food though!

On a different note, I notice that brides and bridegrooms of this generation are no longer shy and unsure. They are usually the ones who would take charge and would go from table to table to greet their friends and relatives. What about the food served at weddings? Some hosts would go all out to make sure their guests leave with full bellies and a big smile on their face. 'Nasi minyak' is not the only dish nowadays. Sweet porridge is a popular choice for a side dish. Cendol, ice cream and kuih muih are often found at Malay weddings. Who are happiest at these kinds of weddings? My family and I , of course!
