A Much-Needed Break!

In 2 weeks time, all matriculation lecturers will be given roughly a 2 week holiday. Yay!! I got so many plans in my head that I don't know whether I can manage to do it all!

in a dreamy state....

Let's see... Things to do while my husband is at work, children are in school and I am on a 2 week break.

• watch lots of movies (e.g. Life As We See It, Three Idiots)
• read novels (means of getting it; buy, borrow or steal. Kidding!!)

 I plan to finish reading this book first

• change table cloth, table runners and bedsheets
• baking (top on my list; muffins with chocolate chips and almond nibs, chocolate cheese cake)

 mmm...yummy!!!

• cook real breakfast for my children before they're off to school. (Note to self; real breakfast does not consist of frozen food, store bought buns and cereals)  AND

• the best part.. Just do nothing!!!

It's a heavenly feeling when I can squeeze in a "me" time in my ever busy schedule. I will be rejuvenated, refreshed and happier. I am pretty sure I will be singing McDonald's anthem song, " I'm loving it" during that 2 week.

My true calling...Seriously???!!!

Unlike some people, I wasn't born with extraordinary talents. I can only teach. I don't know how to play any musical instrument. I don't have any idea how to assemble parts of a computer desktop. Let alone figure out why is my computer's health status is forever bad. I am also not good at sports, well, except for aerobics (is that considered sports?) Anyway, last year I discovered a new passion. Baking!!! I found out that I truly love baking. I started with baking muffins (premix of course!). I cautiously tried to bake moist chocolate cake. Well, the result was really, really satisfying. My husband and children loved the muffins and the cake.

So far, I have baked walnut carrot cake, cheese cake, puff pastries and savoury bread puddings. In fact, I have also roasted barbecued chickens. I realise that some talents are not inborn. You really have to acquire it. According to my friend,there's a new saying , " Perfect practice makes perfect". It feels so good inside when my family and friends enjoying my labour of love. Therefore. it was a brilliant move for me to buy the gas stove cum oven. Ha..ha..ha!!! I am now searching a recipe for chocolate cheese cake. Mmmm.. can't wait!!

Health is not valued till sickness comes!

One of my greatest fear when it concerns my children is if they fall sick. That is why everyday without fail, I would pray for their health and well being. This fear is so great that sometimes, it consumes me.This in turn leaves me feeling anxious, worried and helpless. Last Saturday, the thing that I dreaded the most came without warning. My youngest son Wafi, was down with fever.His temperature did not drop, much to our concern. The fever raged on for a few days.. My husband and I took him to see 2 general practitioners, brought him to the Emergency Counter at Kulim Hospital. Still, his temperature did not go down. Our dining table was laden with all sorts of medicine. The antibiotics (2 types, taken at different times) caused him to suffer from diarrhoea. It was disheartening to see such a small body coping with such terrible ordeal. On Thursday, we decided to take him to Pantai Hospital SP. Of course, he was immediately warded. He was treated with IV fluid and a few prescribed medicine. It took him '2 night stay' to get better. However, the fever took some of his weight. He looked so fragile that Thursday that my heart just bled for him. Alhamdulillah, my husband who is my rock, kept me strong. My older children Hazim and Nina, were also there to give support to each other. Wafi was also a wonderful patient. he did what he was told, took his medicine bravely and never once he cried out loud for the pain he was experiencing. I guess what I'm trying to say here is that it's not money, fame or expensive shoes and handbags (I had to include this too!) that would make me happy. It's having healthy and happy family. Thank you Allah for giving me a blessed life and for answering my prayers!!
